Why Secondary Intention?

Secondary intention is a term commonly used in the context of wound healing and medical treatment. It refers to a process by which a wound is allowed to heal naturally, without surgical closure or intervention, and is often employed when primary intention (the immediate and direct closure of a wound through stitches, staples, or other means) is not feasible or advisable.

Secondary intention healing is commonly employed when there is a significant loss of tissue, making direct closure difficult or impractical, or when wounds are contaminated, infected, or have a high risk of infection.
